Healthy Keystone Kids Initiative
PROMOTING ACCESS TO LACTATION SERVICES IN PENNSYLVANIA
Healthy Keystone Kids Initiative also advocates for other legislation and policies which support breastfeeding and providing human milk for infants.
We support SB 500 which ensures that families with Medical Assistance who have sick infants can receive reimbursement for Pasteurized Donor Human Milk if they are in the NICU or at home with critical illnesses and conditions. This milk saved infant lives and helps them overcome medical problems. Learn more here Protect Sick Babies

The U.S. Surgeon General issued a Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding which recommends that the public have access to services provided by International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs).
An IBCLC is a member of the maternal-child healthcare team with specialized skills in breastfeeding care and management. The IBCLC credential is the highest certification and is an internationally recognized credential in the field of lactation. Research has shown improved breastfeeding outcomes when mothers and infants receive the services of IBCLCs.
The Healthy Keystone Kids Initiative was started by the four chapters of the United States Lactation Consultant Association that provide services across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The members are:
-
Western Pennsylvania Lactation Consultant Association
-
Pennsylvania Mid-state Lactation Coalition
-
Pennsylvania Resource Organization for Lactation Consultants
-
Nurture: South Central PA Lactation Consultant Association
The mission of the Healthy Keystone Kids Initiative is to:
